PHILANTHROPY & INVOLVEMENT

Philanthropic Focus

Alpha Gamma Delta’s philanthropic focus is Fighting Hunger. Food insecurity affects every race, age and community, including the communities where we are placed. That is why we want to be a part of the solution. Partnering with national and local organizations, we are able to make an impact on our communities. We are committed to contributing to the world’s work as our Purpose calls us to do. As a sisterhood, we work together to make a greater impact.

Our impact is enhanced through fundraising for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. They provide fighting hunger grants to various organizations that are doing their part in their local community to fight hunger. Campus Involvement

Hello! My name is Shelby Koeppen, and I am the current Vice President of Philanthropy at the Beta Phi Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta. Service to me means cultivating relationships within one’s community through active participation in the quest to better the world. Alpha Gamma Delta’s main philanthropic focus is fighting hunger. This is accomplished through the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. Beta Phi’s main philanthropy event on Valparaiso University’s campus is a two person team cornhole (or bags) tournament called “Alpha Gam Bags Hunger”. This event takes place in the fall semester and all proceeds go towards the Foundation. Besides our main event, Beta Phi works tirelessly in the NWI region to support local organizations such as Hilltop House and NWI Food Bank. We also table in our student union to raise money for the Foundation by selling rubber ducks and self care bags, while also educating our peers on hunger relief facts. I am so proud of our members for always putting in 100% effort into our community and philanthropy events. One thing I have learned as Vice President of Philanthropy is that it truly takes a village to make a community stronger. I am grateful that Beta Phi is my village. Lots of love, Shelby Koeppen, VPP
